Meet Joseline Prado: Driving safety, breaking barriers, and inspiring the next generation
On International Day for Women in Maritime, we celebrate the women who are shaping the future of our industry—and Joseline Prado is one of them.
For Joseline, the journey into the maritime-port sector began with a clear sense of purpose: making a difference in people’s lives.
“I always knew I wanted to do something meaningful—something that allowed me to care for and protect others,” she shares.
That purpose found direction in 2015, when APM Terminals launched a scholarship program for young talent in Limón. Joseline was selected as one of its beneficiaries—an opportunity that became a defining turning point in her life, opening the door to higher education and allowing her to transform her vocation for helping others into a professional pathway within the maritime industry.
She chose to study Occupational Health and Environmental Safety Engineering, aligning her career with her passion for protecting people. Today, she brings that purpose to life every day—identifying risks, implementing controls, and helping ensure that operations run safely and efficiently.
Putting safety at the heart of operations
Now part of the APM Terminals Moín team, Joseline plays a vital role in strengthening a culture where safety comes first.
Her work focuses on creating controlled environments that protect people while enabling operational continuity—something she finds both challenging and deeply rewarding.
“Every day brings new challenges,” she says. “We plan, but operations evolve—and we must adapt. That constant learning is what keeps me motivated.”
Women driving change in maritime
As a woman in a historically male-dominated industry, Joseline sees her role as part of a broader transformation.
“Being here means being part of the change,” she explains. “It’s about showing that women have so much to contribute—that we are capable, strong, and ready to take on any challenge.”
Inspiring the next generation
Her journey—from scholarship recipient to maritime professional—is also a story of breaking barriers and creating new paths.
“Believe in your abilities. Don’t be afraid to step into new spaces,” she says. “This industry needs commitment, talent, and passion—and women have all of that and more.”
A journey of constant growth
Looking ahead, Joseline remains focused on continuous development and future leadership opportunities.
When asked to describe her journey, she says it best:
“Constant growth.”
Today, we celebrate women like Joseline—whose passion, resilience, and dedication continue to move the maritime industry forward.
