APM Terminals appoints new managing director to lead next phase of growth in Denmark

APM Terminals has appointed Kåre Spange as the new Managing Director of its container terminals in Aarhus and Kalundborg, effective 1 September. 

Bringing extensive international leadership experience from across APM Terminals and Maersk, Kåre Spange will lead the continued development of Denmark’s largest container terminal and help realise the ambition of delivering worldclass service to customers.

Kåre Spange returns to Denmark after nearly eight years as Managing Director of APM Terminals’ joint venture container terminal at the Laem Chabang Port in Thailand. He has previously held senior leadership positions across the United States, Latin America, Europe and Africa within Damco, APM Terminals and Maersk Line.

“Kåre is an experienced and results-driven leader with strong international credentials and a proven focus on people, safety and business development. He is the right person to build on the strong progress we have achieved in Aarhus and Kalundborg and to lead the terminals into their next phase of growth,” said Mikael Gutman, who, after almost four years in Denmark, is taking on a new role as Head of Investments for Europe within APM Terminals.

In recent years, APM Terminals Aarhus and Kalundborg have delivered strong results and made significant investments in capacity, technology and the energy transition. The ambition is to further strengthen their position to create the best possible conditions for customers, employees and business partners.

During August, as part of his onboarding programme, Kåre Spange has visited the terminals and met with employees, customers and business partners. He will relocate to Aarhus with his wife and their two daughters.

Mikael Gutman will in his new role support the APM Terminals strategy in Europe:

APM Terminals udnævner ny direktør til at stå i spidsen af næste vækstfase i Aarhus og Kalundborg

APM Terminals har udnævnt Kåre Spange som ny administrerende direktør for containerterminalerne i Aarhus og Kalundborg med tiltrædelse den 1. september.

Med omfattende international erfaring fra ledende stillinger i APM Terminals og Mærsk skal Kåre Spange stå i spidsen for den fortsatte udvikling af Danmarks største containerterminal og ambitionen om at skabe terminaler, der leverer service i verdensklasse til sine kunder.

Kåre Spange kommer til Danmark efter næsten otte år som administrerende direktør for APM Terminals' joint venturecontainerterminal i Thailand og har tidligere har haft ledende roller i USA, Latinamerika, Europa og Afrika på tværs af Damco, APM Terminals og Maersk Line.

“Kåre er en erfaren og resultatorienteret leder med stærke internationale kompetencer og et dokumenteret fokus på både mennesker, sikkerhed og forretningsudvikling. Han er den rette profil til at bygge videre på den stærke udvikling, vi har skabt i Aarhus og Kalundborg, og til at føre terminalerne ind i næste fase af deres vækst,” siger Mikael Gutman, der efter næsten fire år i Danmark tiltræder en ny rolle som Head of Investments for Europa i APM Terminals.

APM Terminals Aarhus og Kalundborg har i de senere år leveret gode resultater og gennemført betydelige investeringer i kapacitet, teknologi og energiomstilling. Ambitionen er at styrke positionen yderligere for at skabe de bedste rammer for kunder, medarbejdere og samarbejdspartnere.

“Jeg ser meget frem til at blive en del af organisationen i Danmark. Aarhus og Kalundborg har dygtige medarbejdere, stærke kunderelationer og en kultur præget af høje ambitioner. I løbet af august har Kåre Spange gennem sit opstartsforløb besøgt terminalerne samt mødt medarbejdere, kunder og samarbejdspartnere. Han flytter til Aarhus sammen med sin hustru og parrets to døtre.

Mikael Gutman vil i sin nye rolle understøtte APM Terminals’ strategi i Europa.
